October 1, 2015

Honest Enterprise, a project of Stand Together Trust, is pleased to announce the release of its latest film, Farming in Fear. The recipient of this year’s Audience Award at the Anthem Film Festival, Farming in Fear tells the story of Martha Boneta, a young, idealistic woman who fulfills her childhood dream of buying and operating a small organic farm in rural Virginia; but actions by a web of connected groups and individuals threaten to put her out of business.

Farming in Fear examines Martha’s nearly 10-year ordeal of trying to earn a living operating her small farm. Despite facing obstacles created by local government and personal attacks, Martha never gave up on her dream. Farming in Fear takes viewers through her battle, from the treatment she received from local officials to the introduction of the “Boneta Bill,” which provides protection for small farmers in order to ensure that they will never experience what Martha did.

Stand Together Trust produces films through Honest Enterprise to inspire others by giving a voice to everyday Americans who work to make life better for themselves and their communities. Often the backbone of their communities, these Americans have stories to tell; at the Institute and Honest Enterprise, we’re here to share those stories.
